From Plans to Pavement: City of Kyle Invites Everyone to Celebrate Marketplace Ave.

KYLE, TEXAS –– The City of Kyle invites the public to join city leaders, distinguished guests and community partners for a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony and “Grand Opening Block Party” to celebrate the completion of the Marketplace Avenue Extension Project, the first of eight major road projects approved in the 2022 Kyle Road Bond on Thursday, July 31 from 6:30-8:30 p.m.

“The completion of Marketplace Avenue is more than a roadway project. It’s a symbol of progress, connection and what’s possible when a community invests in its future,” said Kyle Transportation and Public Works Director Mike Trimble. “This new corridor will help reduce congestion, improve access, and set the tone for the transformative improvements still to come.”

The Marketplace Avenue project adds 0.6 miles of new roadway, connecting the existing segment that currently ends at Old Bridge Trail to Kohlers Crossing and widening the road from three lanes to four between FM 1626 and Old Bridge Trail. The new segment brings Marketplace Avenue full circle, connecting the northern and southern segments of the street and creating a continuous corridor through Kyle.

Marketplace Avenue is the first project to break ground under the 2022 Kyle Road Bond, approved by voters in November 2022. Known as Proposition A, the bond funds eight transportation projects totaling 10.3 miles of new construction, reconstruction, and road widening designed to:

  • Increase roadway capacity to support current and future traffic

  • Improve east-west connectivity throughout the city

  • Construct vital links in the Vybe trail system

The Ribbon Cutting Ceremony will be followed by a family-friendly block party, featuring music, free snow cones, and a chance for residents to walk, bike or run the new stretch of roadway without traffic. Parking will be available on site.

Residents, media and visitors are encouraged to come celebrate this exciting moment that marks Kyle’s commitment to keep citizens moving.
