City of Kyle to Break Ground on Two Critical Road Bond Projects East of I-35
KYLE, TEXAS — The City of Kyle is set to break ground on two significant roadway improvement projects — the extension of Kohlers Crossing to Seton Parkway and Bebee Road — designed to increase traffic flow and enhance east-west connectivity throughout the city.
A ceremonial groundbreaking will be held on Thursday, July 17 at 9:30 a.m. at 246 Republic Drive, near the project limits. Parking for attendees will be available on-site.
The projects include the extension of Kohlers Crossing to Seton Parkway and the widening of Bebee Road, both located east of Interstate 35. Together, they represent significant progress in the city’s voter-approved 2022 Road Bond Program.
The Kohlers Crossing extension will span approximately 1.07 miles, connecting I-35 to Seton Parkway, providing a direct route to Seton Hospital and key destinations on the east side.
Bebee Road will be expanded to four lanes between the I-35 northbound frontage road and Sunlight Boulevard. A new two-lane roundabout will be constructed at the intersection of Bebee Road and Kohlers Crossing to improve traffic flow and safety.
“These two critical projects will help connect the east and west sides of Kyle, improve emergency response times, and provide a necessary connection to Seton Hospital,” said Kyle Transportation and Public Works Director Mike Trimble. “We hope the community will join us in celebrating this exciting step toward our goal of keeping Kyle on the move and making travel easier for everyone in our community.”
These projects are the second and third of eight projects in the 2022 Kyle Road Bond program to begin construction. The first project to break ground, the extension of Marketplace Avenue, is expected to open later this summer.
In November of 2022, City of Kyle Voters approved Proposition A, a road bond for 8 transportation projects across Kyle totaling 10.3 total miles of new location, reconstruction, and widening projects to improve the City’s transportation network. These projects will provide additional capacity to support current and future traffic, strengthen connections between the east and west sides of Kyle, and construct key segments of the Vybe trail system.
